welcome back
Sorry about the long vacation but now I am coming back with a question: who do you think will win; Celtics or Magic?? I think Magic
Sorry about the long vacation but now I am coming back with a question: who do you think will win; Celtics or Magic?? I think Magic
Hey, this is koolpop_24, giving my reflection about my blog. Here it is:
First, I have increased my word limits. Instead of writing at least 200 words, I have increased it about 900 words. I have become better in my writing rather than becoming worse. I have also become more flexible in my writing, writing all types of sentences in my blog and in my class like compound-complex, compound, complex, and etc.
Finally, I have increased my devotion to writing. Before, I was writing for nothing, and because of my blog, “sports”, I have started to like writing about my favorite sports like basketball, wrestling, tennis, and soccer. My writing has become much better than before when I came to ASD. At first, I have no intention to write. After a few months, I started to write my blog everyday, especially in other core subjects and world languages.
First, you must always have a topic and always stick to it. I have done that in the past and recently too, although I didn’t do that in my souk draft. My topic is easy to make because I have two or three topics in my blog, so it’s very easy to organize, but I sometimes get off topic. For example, it was extremely hard when I had to stay topic in my poem about migrant workers. It was especially hard to make one.
Second, you must always have an idea in mind. I always have an idea in my mind unless I am in a bit of a hurry. I really love doing this, despite my hatred for writing. Creating these ideas were very easy because of all the hard work and research put into it. Besides, you needed research to create ideas for my or anyone’s blog.
Finally, you must always put voice into your writing. Without it, it will make your blog a failure as if something was missing inside of it. Creating your voice inside your blog or post is essential when a grades count on your academic progress. Usually, writing blogs is just like writing an essay, with all things needed like complete sentences and etc.
First and foremost, my experience in essays and blogs would help me greatly in my NJHS essay since I will talk mostly about leadership and excellence in academic progress. The essay experience would also help me in U.S. History because of all the recent letters and short essays this year. It might also help me when I start to write an essay to enter a college one day.
Second, with my recent learning of blogs, I can start portraying my style of writing in future jobs. For example, if I become a journalist, I might need the blog in order to accomplish an article in the newspaper or magazine. If I become a reporter (I guess a journalist too), you might need to make a speech with research so you can tell everyone in the world, what’s happening at the moment, despite having no interest in journalism.
Finally, my observations on research will really help me in projects or background information. For example, I had a extremely hard time researching enough data to find out his own background information to achieve a good, fine, or a great grade for my project. With simulations, you also need a lot of background information in order to find out how he talks, what is his personality, etc.
This is my reflection for the quarter
Bye Bye!!!
Historic Moments in WWE
Two of the most controversial wrestlers in the WWE’s existence, RVD (Rob Van Dam), and John Cena, who are very athletic superstars and extremists, against each other in One Night Stand for the WWE Championship. Extremists are wrestlers that love hardcore matches, like RVD. RVD had one of the most legendary careers, although not competing; he is now more focused of his show. With Booker T and Kane, he is a 2-time world Tag Team Champion, and with Mysterio, winning the Tag Team Championship. RVD is also the 15th Triple Crown Champion, and the seventh Grand Slam Champion. RVD is the only person who has held both the ECW and WWE Championship at the same time. RVD, has become one of my favorite wrestlers, and I would think, will become a future Hall of Famer in the later years, John Cena, on the other hand, has no limits. Cena, a phenomenal athlete, whom I really dislike, has no way he would ever lose unless beaten by interference. Cena is a former WWE and WHC champion five times, yet has never defeated RVD in his turf. Cena has been injured three times in his career, but has won most of his titles when returning. Once I saw this match, and although it was a five-star match up, there were many inappropriate languages in the match, especially to the champ John Cena. Here is their legendary match in the PPV (pay-per-view) One Night Stand from YouTube:
With this phenomenal match, the supremacy of it would only be crushed by the likes of Edge, although the crowd cheered “Thank You Edge!!!” to one of the most despicable opponents any wrestler would ever face. Because of all the trash talk that John Cena endured, he actually put all his madness on RVD like the Slingshot to the turnbuckle with a chair on it, and one of the most devastating DDTs to the chair. Cena had no respect when entering the arena, with people throwing his shirt back whenever he throws it to the crowd, and especially when the toilet paper was thrown everywhere in the ring, yet he still defies the odds, although he lost that Extreme Rules match at One Night Stand. This match had gone from legendary to EXTREME!!! All of the somersault moves were done by RVD, because of his athleticism and his quickness. If you people don’t know what I mean by extreme, I mean steel chairs, tables and even championship belts. I was so happy with the result, that the happiness filled all of my depressions of recent stress problems.
Soccer Matches That Have Enthralled me
One of the most enthralling matches that I have seen is Manchester United vs. Chelsea in a penalty shootout. Man United, apparently, is the most likely team to win the EPL trophy, although in numerous occasions have lost to other teams. Man United has totally conquered the EPL and have become kings in the soccer business. Man United had won 11 FA cups, three League Cups, three European cups, one UEFA cup winners’ cup, and one UEFA Super cup. Chelsea, on the other hand, is the worst team I have ever seen in my life, because of the worst players on its team (except Drogba, of course). The only player in the team who has skill is Drogba from Ivory Coast, who is a fantastic player that should be in another team, don’t you guys agree??? Chelsea, on the other hand, has not won many titles of crowns for a long time. Chelsea won three English Championship, four FA Cups, four League Cups, and the UEFA Winners’ Cup twice. Here are the penalty highlights from YouTube:
This Penalty Shootout should qualify as a match of year and definitely qualifies as a exceptional Shootout in this century. As you will see in the Penalty Shootout, Man United were so close to losing against Chelsea, although they had recovered from Ronaldo’s miss, and Terry’s missed shot was very helpful to Man United to claim their prize, which is the European Championship. The match ended 1-1 before the Penalty Shootout. Ronaldo was truly crying because his team was really lucky to overcome the pressure against their team. I personally think that because of that slip, Terry should be very embarrassed by his performance in the Penalty Shootout.
Epic Moment in WWE History
One of the most epic moments in history was on ECW or Extreme Championship Wrestling. Although it has joined forces with WWE, it has been a thorn in the past. ECW was established in 1992 until 2001, but then joined WCW (World Championship Wrestling). Anyways, here is the matchup, which was very hard to find. Cm Punk’s last chance to win the ECW Championship against the “Tuesday Night Delight”, John Morrison. Cm Punk is a phenomenal athlete, who can defy the odds. He is the nineteenth Triple Crown Champion in the WWE, and held the ECW, Heavyweight, and World Tag Team Championships. John Morrison is also a phenomenal athlete, and held three titles in his illustrious career. He teamed up with a lot of people like Joey Mercury, Melina, and the Miz. Although he was successful in the tag team division, he is also successful in the singles division. Here is the match from YouTube:
Cm Punk, at last, had won the match. During the match, I was astonished at their skills, flexibility, quickness, and evasiveness of these two extraordinary wrestlers. So much counters were made and so quick was the match. This was CM Punk’s first world championship in WWE.
Round 2 Western Playoffs: Nuggets vs. Mavericks
This was the only series in which I guessed that one team would win, although in a shorter number of games. The Denver Nuggets have been a threat to all teams in the Western Conference. They have the second-best record this season with Lakers at the first. Their best acquisition was in the 2003 NBA Draft gaining future All-Star Carmelo Anthony. Their opponents were the Dallas Mavericks. They have done well in recent years, but lost to exceptional teams like Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat. Both of these teams have never won a NBA championship in the 62 seasons of NBA. Here are the game 1 highlights from YouTube:
Denver won that match against Dallas 109-95. Carmelo Anthony scored 23 pts, five rebounds, and four assists, while Nene Hilario patted his stats with 24 pts. Nowitzki scored 28 pts, ten rebounds, and four assists, and J.J. Barea had five assists added on into his career. Here are game 2 highlights from YouTube:
Nuggets did it again by beating the Mavs 119-105. Anthony scored 25 pts, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Nene scored 25, while Smith with 21 and Billups with 18 and eight assists. Andersen had nine rebounds. Nowitzki scored 35 pts, although losing to Nuggets greatly. Here are game 3 highlights from YouTube:
Flames burned up when an intentional foul was made, but not called on. Antoine Wright had a simple objective: to foul Carmelo. He tried it once, no call was made. So he tried it again, yet no call. The referee, who was Mark Wunderlich, the same official who didn’t call a foul on Derek Fisher in last year’s Conference finals. Josh Howard and several clusters had appeared to argue to Denver players and officials. Because of that, Nuggets beat Mavs 106-105 because of Carmelo’s 3-pointer. Billups scored 32 pts and Melo scored 24. Dirk had 33 pts, and 16 rebounds. Jason Terry had 17, while Brandon Bass had 16 pts. Here are game 4 highlights from YouTube:
Because of that accusation in the last game, Mavs win against Nuggets 119-117. Nowitzki showing why he is a former MVP, with 44, Howard had 21, and Kidd with13 pts. Nowitzki with 13 rebounds, Howard with 11 rebounds, and Kidd with 10 rebounds. Anthony had a playoff-high 41 pts, and 11 rebounds, while Billups with 24 pts. Finally, I think that Mavs are starting to recuperate, but I don’t think it would last long. Denver still leads the series 3-1. Here are Game 5 highlights:
Because of all the offensive and defensive pressure, Nuggets wins the series 4-1 by beating the Mavs 124-110. After this game, the Nuggets reach the Conference Finals for the first time since 1985. Anthony scored 30 pts, while Nowitzki had 32 points. Billups had 28 pts, seven rebounds, and 12 assists in the ballgame. An unbelievable series, but Nuggets would prevail in this clash. They might either play the LA Lakers or the Houston Rockets in the Conference Finals. If either one advances, the Nuggets would be a hard opponent to obliterate.
Historic Tennis Match
The last match you’ll ever see with Andre Agassi. It was Federer vs. Agassi in the 2005 US Open Final. Agassi had an illustrious career which led to many Grand Slam titles. He has not only won all four Grand Slam titles, Agassi also is an Olympic Gold Medalist. So that makes a Golden Slam, a very prestigious award for people only who has won all four Grand Slams and an Olympic Gold Medal. Only he and his wife, Steffi Graf are the only male and female pro players that has achieved this esteemed award. Overall, Agassi has 68 titles, 60 of which are ATP titles. Here are the highlights from YouTube:
Roger Federer has manhandled his opponent once again. Because of that, Roger has claimed prominence by beating Agassi in four sets. Federer showed total obliteration on Agassi and his fans. Although claiming the second set, Agassi had a slim to none chance of winning. Federer annihilated Agassi to give a message to the pros that if you mess with me, I‘ll humiliate you in front of these audacious fans.
Weekly Historic Matches
Here is a match that I would love to watch over and over again. At Wrestlemania 22, for the WHC title, Rey Mysterio vs. Kurt Angle vs. Randy Orton. Kurt Angle is a “Wrestling Machine”; what the announcers of the match said. He is the only Olympic Gold Medalist in the wrestling business. One of his famous matches is Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar for the WWE championship. Despite Brock’s insurmountable efforts and interference by the Chairman of WWE, Vincent Kennedy McMahon, he still can’t beat Kurt Angle for the title. He currently is at Total Nonstop Acton Wresting, or TNA. Randy Orton is another phenomenal wrestler. He is known as the “Legend Killer”, because of beating Hall of Famers like Hulk Hogan. He is the youngest WHC and WWE champion in history at 21 and 24. One of his most famous matches was winning the WHC title from Chris Benoit. He currently resides at WWE. Here is the match from YouTube:
Rey Mysterio won that main event main; yet he lost it a few months later. It was a match that really freaks me out, I mean, why is the wrestler that has a good reaction booed by the crowd??? Especially in Wrestlemania, the grandest stage of them all. Why???? Maybe people like wrestlers with bad reactions or it was Kurt Angle’s hometown, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, so they cheered for him???
Second Round Playoffs: Lakers vs. Rockets
Okay, I know that people might comment on this, but I think that the Rockets have no chance if Yao doesn’t step his game uop a notch. The series is tight with Lakers having a slim lead 2-1. The Rockets are a phenomenal team to deal with, especially with Yao Ming and Ron Artest in their corner. The Rockets have won 2 NBA championships in 62 seasons. Their greatest acquisition was in the 2002 NBA draft, which was Chinese center Yao Ming. Here is game 1 highlight from YouTube:
The Rockets won that one against the Lakers 100-92. At this point, Rockets lead the series 1-0. Yao scored 28 pts, and made 10 rebounds while Artest scored 21 pts, made three rebounds, and seven assists. Kobe scored 37 pts, made eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals; while Gasol added 14 pts and 13 rebounds. It was an exciting match between these two blockbuster teams. They were neck to neck until the end of the ballgame. Here are game 2 highlights from YouTube:
The Lakers won this time against the Rockets 111-98. As you will see in the video, the Lakers were determined to raise their stats and win the game to tie it. Kobe Bryant scored an incredible 40 pts, six rebounds and two assists, and Pau Gasol scored 22 pts, 14 rebounds, four assists and two blocks. Artest scored 25 points and five assists.
Weekly Historic Tennis Matches
Another classic, I would presume the match would be an instant classic to watch. Rafael Nadal vs. Roger Federer finals at Wimbeldon. Federer, a dexterous player, winning 13 Grand slams in his career, just one shy of Sampras’s 14 Grand Slams. He is currently the world No.2 in the world. Rafael Nadal is presently world No.1. He won a total of 6 Grand slams and an Olympic Gold Medalist. Their match was a real classic for fans. Here is the match highlights from YouTube:
It was just amazing. I’ve never seen any match like that. It took five sets for Nadal to finish the job defeating Roger Federer 6-4, 6-4, 6-7, 6-7, 8-6. Nadal was up two sets to zero until Federer equalized it two all until the 8-6. It took more than seven hours to finish the whole match. It was even dark when it ended.
Historic Wrestling Matches in WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment)
The 2007 Unforgiven. The main event that time was for the World Heavyweight Championship. The contenders were “The Animal” Batista, Rey Mysterio, and The Great Khali. Batista is a 2-time WHC title holder and is from the Philippines. He was in one of the best factions ever called “Evolution”. Batista weighs at 290 lbs. Rey Mysterio is from San Diego, California. He is a marvelous veteran who uses his high-flying techniques in the four-sided ring. He weighs about 165 lbs. The champion is The Great Khali. He is from India. Khali weighs at 420 lbs. and is 7’3”. Khali is one of the largest athlete is the sports industry. Here is the match from YouTube.
Batista won that match. It was a hellacious match. Everyone in the stands were up on their feet in the packed-up stadium, waiting for the result. Mysterio did an outstanding effort in this match, but not even his veteran skills proved to overcome both the Animal and Punjabi Giant. Even with Khali’s colossal size and hands, he was unable to reclaim the title. After that match, “The Phenom”, Undertaker, made an impact by focusing on Batista’s hard earned WHC title.
NBA Playoffs 2009: Celtics vs. Bulls
It was a remarkable first-round playoffs between the Chicago Bulls and the Boston Celtics. I wouldn’t have expected that these two teams would show us one of the greatest basketball series in its history. First, we start off with a little snippet of the Celtics. The Celtics had earned 17 NBA championships in 62 seasons of the NBA. Boston had one of the most exceptional players in NBA, Larry Bird. Next up is a small piece of the Bulls. The Bulls have six NBA championships in the 62 seasons. I think that this guy I will mention has been unsurpassed his whole career and is the two-time Slam Dunk Champion, number 23, Michael Jordan. Here are Game 6 highlights from YouTube:
As I said, a remarkable matchup setting up magnificent cable records on that one. Bulls won Game 6 in three OTs(Overtime) against Celtics 128-127. John Salmons patting his stats with 35 pts, and six rebounds. Rookie of the Year Derrick Rose scored 28 pts, eight rebounds and seven assists. Ray Allen did an exemplary work with 51 pts, three stls, and five rebs. Paul Pierce has 22 pts, and 9 rebounds.
Historic Tennis Match
One of the historic matches I observed was between Pete Sampras vs. Roger Federer. Former No. 1 and Hall of Famer Pete Sampras has the most number of Grand Slams won with 14 of them. He won two Australian Opens, seven Wimbeldons, and five U.S. Opens. Pete stayed No.1 for six years (1993-1998). Former No.1 Roger Federer is currently shy in the race for the most number of Grand Slams with 13. He gained three Australian Opens, five Wimbeldons, and five U.S. Opens. Here are their highlights from YouTube:
Federer won that clash against Sampras 6-3, 6-7, 7-6. It was a night to remember since aces and winners were being completed uncontrollably like a mini gun that its ammo lasts perpetually. The match was full of top spin shots made by both former No. 1s. These clashes are recurrently being prepared because of all of the dream matches between the legends alongside the legends-in-the-making.
Lakers vs. Jazz in the first round of the playoffs are a very interesting series to watch, especially with all the stars in each team. I personally think that the Los Angeles Lakers will win this series since they have the second most NBA championships with 14 and Celtics with 17. When the Lakers begin a game, they usually start with Kobe Bryant as a guard. I would say that the MVP of 2008 has done great in the regular season. Their starters are guards Derek Fisher, Kobe Bryant, forwards Trevor Ariza and Pau Gasol, and center Andrew Bynum. Overall, they had 15 Hall of Famers play for the LA Lakers. Utah Jazz hasn’t done an exemplary job of securing a spot in the playoffs, barely securing it with the Phoenix Suns right behind them with two games behind. Their starters are guards Deron Williams and Ronnie Brewer, forwards Carlos Boozer and Kyle Korver, and center Mehmet Okur. They had 8 Hall of Famers play for them. Their first round games were amazing because of their variation of shots made within 48 minutes of each game. Here are the game 1 highlights:
The Lakers won that game against Jazz 113-100. Kobe Bryant had 24 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 blk. Kobe had done a great job in letting his teammates feel a rhythm. Even PF Lamar Odom scored a 3pt shot early in the 1st quarter. Trevor Ariza had 21 pts, 4 rebs, and 2 assists. He has been shooting threes at the whole game. Deron Williams had a career-playoff high 16 assists. Here are the game 2 highlights:
The Lakers won again against Jazz 119-109. Kobe scored 26 pts, 6 rebs, 9 assists, and 2 stls. In this one, Kobe makes the team work together again, this time focusing on Ariza. Ariza before joining the Lakers, he was a defensive superstar. Now with the Lakers, he has now become an offensive threat to all teams shooting threes all over the place.
Jazz survived this one beating the Lakers 88-86. Lamar Odom scored 21 pts, and Boozer scored 23 pts and had an unbelievable 22 rebounds in Game 3. Deron was the man when he scored a fade away with 2.2 seconds left in the 4th quarter. If only Kobe scored that 3-pointer, they would have put the series 3-0 rather than 2-1.
